Home Cadhay May Fair
Preparations are well underway for Ottery St Mary’s biggest ever May Fair which will be held this year on Saturday, May 24th at nearby Cadhay Elizabethan Manor House. This year’s event will be open at the earlier time of 11am till 4pm to cope with the large number of expected visitors. Back by popular demand will be the internationally renowned juggler and unicyclist Goronwy Thom, and falconer Jonathan Marshall. New for this year will be an opportunity to try archery with the Grandisson Archers of Ottery St Mary. There will also be tours of Cadhay (which was built in 1550), ferret racing, children’s games, a bouncy castle and there will be a BBQ and cream teas. Music will be provided by Ottery St. Mary Silver Band and there will be many stalls selling quality crafts, jewellery, cakes, traditional sweets, produce, plants, toys, books, CD’s and DVD’s. Fair Organiser, Michael Moore, said: “The May Fair is now in its third year and is growing in popularity as a major annual event in the East Devon calendar. This year we are opening an hour earlier and have planned even more family entertainment as we are expecting over 1,000 visitors. And with an entry fee of just £1 per adult and free for children, this has got to be Devon’s best value day out! “There is something very special and enjoyable about the May Fair held in the beautiful grounds of Cadhay, and we are very grateful to Cadhay for allowing Ottery Parish Church to hold this event here,” said Michael. |
